Youth Hostel & Group Lodge in South Tyrol – For Scouts, Clubs and Church Groups

A Lodge Where Community Is the Greatest Adventure

Arriving as a group, leaving as a team: Our farmhouse in the Ahrntal Valley is more than a youth hostel for clubs – it is the backdrop against which communities discover who they truly are. At 1,300 metres above sea level, surrounded by the mountains of South Tyrol, the ordinary world falls away and something more important takes its place: the shared experience, the evening campfire conversation, the morning hike that everyone is still talking about at dinner. Whether you are bringing a scout group from across Europe, organising a church summer camp or planning a club weekend in the Alps, our group retreat house offers the space, the freedom and the South Tyrolean heartbeat that makes the difference.

The self-catering youth groups who come here soon discover that cooking together, eating together and laughing together under one alpine roof creates bonds that no team-building exercise can replicate. This is group life in its most honest and joyful form.

A Retreat House Ready for Every Programme and Every Schedule

Flexibility built into every corner: Organising a church youth retreat, a religious group lodge weekend or a scout training weekend requires a venue that bends to your timetable – not the other way around. Our 17 rooms, with their mix of bunk beds, single beds and double beds, each equipped with private shower and WC, give group leaders complete freedom to assign sleeping arrangements in whatever way best suits their group. The two common rooms provide space for workshops, devotional gatherings, planning sessions and relaxed evening programmes in equal measure.

The professional kitchen – the warm heart of the house – is exactly what self-catering youth groups need. Large, well-organised and capable of feeding up to 68 people per sitting, it turns meal preparation into a communal activity that group members look forward to rather than dread. After 40 years of welcoming youth groups of every kind, every practical detail of this house reflects what actually matters to group leaders and their members.

Outdoor Life, Evening Activities and the Freedom to Be Yourselves

An alpine playground without limits: The wide meadows and private outdoor grounds surrounding the farm offer self-catering parishes, scout groups and youth club members the freedom to design their own outdoor programme. Morning trail runs, afternoon orienteering through the forest, an evening football match on our own pitch – the landscape is your timetable. Because there are no busy roads nearby and the only soundtrack is the wind through the trees and the distant sound of cowbells, young people are free to move, explore and exist at their own pace.

When the day is done, the party room comes alive. A 4,000-watt sound system, Bluetooth music, a laser show, table tennis and a foosball table transform the evening into a private event that the whole group runs entirely on their own terms. Music band accommodation is also a favourite use of this space – the room is ideal for rehearsals, jam sessions and live performances that the rest of the valley need never hear.

Church Camps, Choir Groups and Religious Retreats in the Heart of the Alps

Where stillness and community meet: Our group retreat house in the Ahrntal Valley has long been a favourite for church camp houses, choir camp accommodation, religious group lodges and Epiphany group lodges in the Christmas and New Year season. The combination of natural seclusion, genuine South Tyrolean warmth and practical self-catering facilities creates an environment that nurtures both community and quiet reflection. The self-catering weekend and the longer residential stay are equally well-catered for – and because the house is booked exclusively, your group's programme is the only programme that matters.

Self-catering Easter retreats, summer camp lodges for clubs, holiday camp South Tyrol programmes and nature retreat groups all find a natural home here. The ski bus stopping 1.2 kilometres from the farm in winter adds a completely different dimension for groups who want to combine their spiritual or community retreat with outdoor adventure on the Klausberg and Speikboden slopes.

The Schwarzbachalm – The Spiritual Heart of Any Youth Retreat

A Hut Evening That Brings the Whole Group Together

Where simple moments become lasting bonds: For scout groups, church youth retreats and club camps alike, the 15-minute evening walk to the Schwarzbachalm is often the moment that defines the entire stay. The illuminated path through the quiet forest creates a sense of shared adventure before anyone even arrives at the hut. Inside, the warmth is immediate: the aroma of freshly made alpine food fills the air, the wooden benches invite the kind of honest conversation that only happens far away from screens and city noise, and the petting zoo delights anyone who needs a moment of uncomplicated joy. For self-catering community groups seeking a genuine South Tyrolean experience, the Schwarzbachalm evening is the highlight that stays in every member's memory long after the journey home.
